Inactive grenade causes Friday night evacuation at Holyoke Community College

CBS 3 Springfield reported that Friday night a hand grenade was discovered.

The grenade, which was later discovered to be an inactive grenade used as a training device, was found by workers cleaning up on the third floor of the Frost building, in the school’s art department. Local and state police later determined that while the grenade was  real, it was ‘inert’ and unable to be detonated.

Scheduled classes and events resumed the next day.
